NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT
SHARBAT GULA
These eyes have captured the world since first exhibited on the front cover of a magazine. This young child was orphaned when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in the early 1980's. She was sent to live in a Pakistinian refugee camp. At age 12 in 1984 her image was captured by a photographer from NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and has remained imbedded in the minds of the entire world as the AFGHAN GIRL.
